Precise Cornell Rolls To Easy Triumph lover Columbia Goes Over, Under, Around Lions, Passes to Its Scores in 40 Come by the ASSOClateu fTeSS. ITHACA, N. Y, Nov. 2.-For a football machine which was accused of travelling on one cylinder, Cor nell did pretty well today. 1t ran over, under and around the Lions of Columbia to a 27-to-0 victory it’s thirteenth in row, and the seventeenth straight in which 1t has escaped defeat. With the gray-clad Carl Gray Snavely bravely defying comment and sitting grimly with the roll of paper which caused the bench coaching charge after the Ohio State game clutched In his hand, the Big Red rolled up and down the field with a snap-snap precision which left the Lions thWarted and bewildered Once in the first period, again in the second, and twice in the third did a red-shirted Comedian scamper over the goal with the ball clutched tightly, and every touchdown play came on pass. Cornell Passes Tell. The $4,000 fans just were COM fortably settled in the crescent stands at Schoellkopf Field when the Big Red was on its way to a touchdown. Forced to punt once, the next time the Comedians got the ball, they started marching, and a pass, Bill Murphy to Mort Lands berg, picked up the final 7 yards In the second quarter Hal Nc Cullough tossed short touchdown pass to Ray Jenkins to climax a march from the Cornell IS, and in the third quarter, Jim Schmuck twice got behind the Columbia de- Tense to take passes in stride and score. The first of the Schmuck touch downs came on the second scrimmage play after the half time rest One scrimmage play failed to gain and on the next Mccullough drop ped back to the Cornell “a and whipped the ball down the field Schmuck did the rest to complete the 66-yard play. Later, shortly after Columbia once had stylmied the Cornell defense with a great goal-line stand after passes and terrific drives had car ried the Big Red to a first down on the Columbia g. Mccullough dropped back from the Columbia “a and again shot the ball tc Schmuck, and the Columbia safety man saw only the back of his neck. Columbia Is Helpless. Matched against this diversified precision attack with its running plays finding an animated red wall shielding the runner and its pass plays finding. open receivers waving frantically on all parts of the field the Columbia offense was pathetic. The Lions could show nothing like consistent offense Statistics tell vivid story of the rout of the Lions in this twenty eighth game between the two schools. Cornell completed IA of 2C passes, rolled up total of 442 yards from running and passing: Column bia completed four of 10 passes accumulated total Of only los wards
