SdIlutIS 1ACCPo cOu Red” Sanders, who took over the reins of the Commodores at Wander bilt has already exceeded fond expectations. Vandy whipped Wash ington and Lee, lost 81 to Prince ton came up with a TT tie with a highly favored Kentucky eleven. It looks like Sanders has coffee and cakes for another year, too. But the top performance of all to date, it appears, is what old Clark Shaughnessy has done at Stanford. Last year stanford didn’t win single conference game and beat Dartmouth in their final contest for their only victory. Shaughnessy was taking an awful beating with Chi cago and when DR.. Hutchins called it quits OH the gridiron, he look over at Stanford after Tiny Thornhill was custed. So far Stanford has beat San Fran cisco 27–0, Oregon 1870 and Santa Clara 7–6. And there’s even Rose Bowl talk for the team. Which is pretty good for these draftees. Lalanne’s Comeback Cardinals Jim Lalanne is being given national mention for All-Amerlean this year and it certainly appeared that he is heading that way with his performance against Texas Christian. In connection with this Laurence Leonard, of the Greensboro Daily News, penned nice piece on Lalanne and how he virdicated HIM self in that game. Some figures released by Bob Madry, of the University News bureau, show that the Bayou Bomber as he was known in ’39, is setting the pace in yardage by the Carolima team. He has rushed the ball So times for net Of 267 yards for an average of IA yards per try. He has completed eight of 23 passes for 102 yards. The football-minded think figures like that look better than those in the Vanities. Here And There Mars Hill college has come up with another tough junior college football team Saturday they defeated the Erskine Frosh 41–0 The previously had beat the Wofford freshmen 25–7 Jack Red mond, the trick shot golfer, is head ing south for the winter with the vow to teach every golfer below the Mason & Dixon line to hit two balls with one stroke of the club . :. From early season games it looks like Tileston is the class of the six man football teams and Forest Hills the leader in the touch grid game Coach Bob Black called up last night to announce that the Cats game with Clinton will be played on the ROTC field :. He admitted that it would be tough to collect admissions but said he was depending on the good craftsmanship of the Will v,1i,, uton fonfha11 fans
