7. {. U. GIVEN EDGE IN AERIAL ATTACK Most Bookies Say Tar Heels Chances Even; Deacon-Ti- ger Tilt Also Toss-Up RALElGH, oct. H. Up – The gents in these parts who earn their profits from the prophets by max ing books on college football think it’s about an even-money bet that North Cardinals Tar Heels will come back this weekend. Two of the bookies, apparently figuring that the Tar Heels may regain some of the prestige lost in a r. 0defeat by Wake Forest two weeks ago, are quoting the Caro- Ina VS.. Texas Christian game at Chapel Hill on Saturday as a toss up. Providing you’ll spot him three points for social security, one of these two gamblers will let yov pick your. favorite, and he will cover your money and take the other team. The other accepts only bets par layed on several teams; and you can take either Carolina or T. GU. without spotting points in the par lay. A third bookie, who also accepts only parlayed bets, rates the Frogs as three points stronger than the Chapel Hill boys. Before you hook the family jew els to back Carolina in bets with any of those gentlemen, please con slider that: Texas Christian. which has turned out such aerial performers as Slingin’ Sammy Baugh and Pitchin’ Davie O’Brien, always has a good passing attack. This year Coach Dutch Meyers has five tail backs who throw the ball, and he’s been quoted as saying that he was afraid to leave any of them home, because they had all been so adept at shooting the shesbet. The Frogs have completed half of the “a pass a 1910 defeat by Wake Forest two games to date; four of those pass es they have thrown in their two good for 70; 60, a., and 80 yards. 2-North Carolina showed in it: three games that it was vulnerable to passes. Two of the four touch downs made against the Tar Heels were on passes. OF 81 passe: thrown against the Heels, II were completed, and none Of Carolina three opponents was supposed t. be particularly potent in the air 3-The Frogs beat Centenary Al e and Arkansas 20–0.. ALL the stories from Texas in dictated the Christians are loaded for bear-Bear Wolf? Now, on the other hand, before you let the bankroll ride on T. c u, please consider that: 1.-Two of Cardinals coache! know all about the Texas style O play. Head Coach Wolf knows since he formerly was a player coach, and athletic director at T C. U. Line Coach Johnny Waugh knows, since he was a star guart for the Frogs. Both Wolf and Waugh: natur ally are itching to whip their ole alma mater, and the Carolina boy: may rise to their right emotiona heights to come through for theil bosses. 3-The Tar Heels may go to towr if they can get the right backfiele combination. There are plenty o. good candidates to draw from Harry Dunkle, Mike Cooke, Jos Austin, Johnny Pecora, Jim La lame, Frank O’Hare, Don Baker Sid Sadoff,. Dave Barksdale, A Remey , and Bill Sigler, for in stance. And the passing combina ton of Lalanne to ALL Americ; Paul SEVERN, which worked 81 well last year, eventually ought t. : work again. 4-Carolina lost its prestig’ against Wake Forest. The situation may be that the Tar Heels have strong outfit, but that the Deacon really have a wonder team. Carolima won its other games, defeat ing Appalachian, 56–6, and David son 27–7. Whether Wake Forest really ha’ that wonder team will be some : what clarified on Saturday wher the Deacons go to Clemson t. meet the Tigers. Both teams are undefeated and both are serious contenders for the Southern con ference title. Three bookies list the Clemson VS.. Wake Forest game as a toss
