WEEK END RESULTS AID TEAMS STOCK. 10000 May See Tilt Saturday Wolfpack Lays Most Stress On Passing Attack RALEIGH, N. c., Oct. 15.-RE This time last week. The football game here on Saturday between N. c.. State and North Carolina shaped up. merely as a localized hair-pulling contest between sister schools of the Greater University. This time last week, the drug store tailbacks were allowing as how the old Tar Heels weren’t what they used to, be, and that old State college was precisely what it used to be. The implication was plain the Tar Heels had lost their power of other years; the Wolfpack was as impotent as ever. This time last week, Wake For est and Texas Christian were rated as two of the leading teams in the nation. Then two simultaneous explosions last Saturday skyrocketed the stock of both State and Carolina. and State athletic officials now are predicting that an overflow crowd of 20, 1000 will see the game between the Wolves and the Tar Heels. Explosion No. l occurred at Cha pei Hin:e Here North Carolina hit the comeback trail with a courageous, 21–14 victory over T. c. U. clicking for the first time this season, the Tar Heels demonstrated conclusively that they should not be rated in the -pushover class. Explosion No. 2, a blast heard throughout the football world, &C. Cured in Clemson, -, where tn e Clemson Tigers handed Wake For est’s undefeated Deacons a thor oughly convincing, $50 licking, This game indirectly b o S tie d States prestige, since it establish ed Clemson as a leading contend er for national honors-and States lone defeat this season came at the hands of the Tigers. On the basis of comparative scores-and we trust you take your comparative scores with a few grains of salt-State is stronger than Wake Forest, for the score Of the State VS.. Clemson game, was 26–7. Comparative scores also show pass the salt again, please-that State is considerably stronger than Carolina. This can be proved two ways; State beat Davidson, $40; Carolina beat Davidson 27–7. Glenn son was 80 points stronger than Wake Forest; therefore Clemson is 81 points stronger than Carolina; but Clemson is only / points stronger than State; therefore State must be 80 points stronger than Carolina. Actually, most folks who follow football believe that State has a vastly improved team but a team which will fall to Carolina Saturday and to Wake Forest Novem- Der 8. But don’t rate the Wolfpack too lightly. Remember that State up set William and Mary, looked like a million dollars against David son and gave Clemson a tough fight. Remember that an armistice has ended the Civil war which used to be fought within State teams of other years. Remember that Coach Doc Newton’s country boys have learned finesse. 2
