% - ( GaGssS EyaA THE LIFE OF The would-bu football experts who spend whole weeks pouring over dope sheets, comparing scores, weights and the color of the eyes and hair Of rival half backs is indeed hard The Satur- DAYS roll around, the tavorIteS fail, the gucssDcrts tear their hair and come back tor more the next week. For Il good example Of regular Saturday occurrence. take q long look at the following: Davidson l2. Fuman Q. \. c. State -. Boston {. :. Ga. Tech II. Vanderbilt .. Tennessee 30. Georgia D. Penn “a, Navy l.. Notre Dame :. Minnesota &. Harvard 81. Princeton Is. Rice I3, Auburn :. N.Y.C. II. Colgate :. TRUE To FORM North Cardinals Ia 90 o defeat BY the Fordham Rams could hardly be considered anything but the “pauning out OF the rca. dope on the relative strength of the two teams. Those of as who strung with the TarhcclS knew We were doing so at our own peril. The Fordham team n Chapel Hill SATURDAY. was one of the greatest I’m the country. In our opinion. nothing but the fact that the Heels played a fighting brand OF ball prevented the game from being complete rout. Fordham ran true TO form, eNcept for the fact that II was the Rams. a supposedly fine running team. but weak at hOcuS-pocuS, that supplied the fire works. II was the passing and lateral pass inc of the Rams, coupled with the old reliable Statue of Liberty, that crushed the Heels. On the other hand, Carolina, regarded rs one Of the best passing teams IN the nation, was almost entirely ineffective at this game and gain ed most of its yardagc on the ground. The Heel UuartcrbackS may be all that has been said about them. but il is our opinion that they crred badly on several occasions. At least three times in the first half Carolina needed only a yard or two for first down deep I’m Ram territory: and on each OccaSion the Heels backs tried the Fordham line. THE BREAKS We’re not definitely against the Heels. but it was a heart breaker when George Watson Knocked a touchdown pass from the hands of Andy Bcrshak in the first half BEST TEAM WON But all i’m all the best ball team got the long end of the score for once in a close game. Cardinals coaches and players have no aliblS. neither have we second ~ueSSerS. the Heels gave their best, which wasn’t quite enough. WILD, WILD CATS With Lafferty in the game, Davidson’s Wildcats were given a chance to down Furman’s Hurricane. Without Laffcrty in the lineup the wcll-kuown fighting Cats beat the Hurricane 13 to 9. All of which is some more of the conclusive proof that the David sons are a tough crowd to take in their own lair. STATE IN FINE WIN TarheelS over the state were cheered BY States win over BoSton college, team almost uni versally picked to measure Doc Newton’S boys. The States gambled quite a bit, but the elusive Lady Luck rode with RcrlinSki this time. Give Doc time and the Wolves will be right up with the sO-called big boys.
