FLORIDA IS BEATEN BY GEORGIA Tech Gators Bow in 19-to-7 Defeat as Tornado Team Gets Attack Working. TLANTA, Ga, October 49, ~ Georgia Techs Golden Tornado, II all but wrecked by North Caro- 4 a lima last week, got back on the foot ball map here today with a stirring 19-to-7 triumph over the vaunted Alligators from the University OF Florida. The victory knocked Florida chances for a Southern championship crown higher than kite and sent 1000 of the faithful who had come to Atlanta to see their team wallop the 1928 cham pionS home with a splitting headache. The Tornado scored a touchdown before the game was seven minutes old, it added another each in the second and third. Florida made its only threat In the third period. Florida’s Offensive Failed. FIorida’s highly touted offensive failed to materialize and except for a brief squirt, which resulted in their lone touchdown, the gators were on the defensive throughout the afternoon. Earl Dunlap, the passing quarterback, and “Stumpy” Thomson, the backf1eld mainstay, led the Tech team to victory. They were given tip-top assistance also gator running attack dead. Throughout the early stages of the game Crabtree and Company failed utterly to make Roadway through the Tornado line and frequent resorts to the aerial game were rendered futile by inaccurate passing and frequent fumbles. Gain Against Subs. At times the offensive showed signs of clicking, but the Alligators had seen Tech roll up three touchdowns before they were able to penetrate the goal line The visitors did not do any damage so long as the Tech regulars stayed in the game. Near the end of the half, four line Substitutions went in for Jackets and Florida began to gain consistently for the first time.
