  80 Hurt at Game AS Excited Fans Crash Into Stand RICHMOND. Va, Oct. 22.-(Rl- More than eighty persons were in jured, perhaps fifteen Of them Sc riously, and many others received minor cuts and bruises when a sec tion of the stands at Mayo Island Park crashed heer today as the spec tators stood in their seats TO cheer a brilliant run by Barnes, Virginia Military Institute halfback in the game with Maryland. Cries rent the air MS the stands began to waver. then toppled and a crash. The football game. which Maryland won 10 TO 6 was halted for twenty minutes, while police and am balances were rushed to the scene to remove the injured. Eager spec tators who rushed forward were held in check by rapidly formed police lines and order was maintained. Within less than an hour after the stands caved in, every hospital in the city was reporting lists Of in jured and every available physician was called into to make hurried examinations of the patients. Tonight the injured we’re reported as resting easily although many were thought to be in serious conditon.
