SYRACUSE C0NQUERS COLGATE BY 7 TO 3 SYRACUSE, N Y. November 22.-- Syracuse proved a better mud lark than Colgate today. and the Orange triumphed over its traditional Maroon rival, to 8, on a gridiron which seethed in mud. Thirty thousand persons braved the elements to witness this625th annual contest between the rival colleges. The game assumed an aerial twist despite the heavy gong. which made the ball difficult to handle. Both teams played an open game, passing, kicking and running the wings as they would on a dry field. The Orange outplayed its Colgate opponent during most of the game. but the fighting spirit Of the Colgate team was not to be denied and twice during the height of an Orange Of fense the Maroon frightened UP it’s defense and took the ball on downs, once on its own 1-yard line.
