SEWANEE LOOKS TO VANDERBILT Tiger Prepares For Crack At Ancient Foe For Thanksgiving SEWANEE, Tenn, Nov. 1S.-(Spe cial. l.)-Eighteen Sewanee Tigers re turned to theor mountain lail having tasted victory for the sec ond time straight. They went tt South Carolina ruled the underdog but came back the noble victor by thu score of 10 to 0. The Gamecocks put up a stubborn difense that prevented the score being greater than 1t was Sewanee made twelve first downs tC their opponents one and at one tl.le tht ball went over on the en-inch line. Close followers of the Purple arc convinced that the team this year IS the most formidable since that ot 1921 de spite setbacks at the hands of Ogie thorpe and Carson-Newman. She of fers no alibis but only awaits Thanks giving Day when the ancient foe, Van derbilt, is to be met. A redemption is far greater than alibis and the fight ing Tigers are determined to find Ii against the Commodores. It has been ten years since Sewanee has beaten Vanderbilt and it is the undying ambi- tion of every football player that sees action on this mountain to be on the team that licks her. BarKcf “A SCdf Little Zane Barker, quarterback for the Tigers wreathed himself in glory against Carolina. One paper went SC far as to dub him Barker the Superb. ‘ He averaged five yards every time he ran with the ball beside returning punts around ten yards each time. His gen. eralship was unquestionable and he is an important cog in the passing ma. chine. Barker suffered an injury in the Kentucky game that hampered SC. riously his work against Mississippi and Oglethorpe but his return to form was evidenced Saturday. The whole Tiger backfield was said by the Carolinians to be the fastest that they have encountered this season. This is a compliment for the Gamecocks have met North Carolina, Georgia and Fur. man. Composed of Barker, Mahony Harris and Gibbons as regulars with Guitar and Powers as subs they should make an impression on Wander bilt. With Wakefield for the Commo- dores, admitted to be the best end i’ll the south, and Gooch for Sewanee, the people of Nashville will see in action
