  TEAM SHOWS UP GOOD DAVIDSON, N. C., Sept 23.-(Spe- cinl. )-The record of over ten years of defeatless football on a Davidson field was upheld, the. christening of the new Richardson field observed, and the 1924 North Carolina football season opened, when Davidson won by a 14–⁠0 score over the Elon team here Saturday. With the mud still on their uniforms and the memory of the slime and mire still fresh, the Davidson team and the Da- vidson student body have all turned to the approaching battle with the Pres byterian College of South Carolina at Asheville on Saturday, September 27. The Davidson team came out of their opening game with a two-touchdown and one safety margin, greatly lowered by the condition of the field Both the coaches are pleased with the show ing of the Davidson team Saturday, al- though they assert that the score by no means shows the difference between the two organizations. The sticky mud slowed up the offensive of both clubs, but proved a blessing in disguise to the heavier Elon line. Two of Davidson S best forwards were out of the game oaa account of injury and illness.
