w. 81. AND LAFAYETTE END BATTLE, 6 TO 6 NEW YORK. November 3.-washington and Jefferson and Lafayette fought desperate tie game at the Polo Grounds today, to s. Each team scored a touchdown on a for ward pass and both attempts at the resultant goal failed. Thirty thousand saw the game. The game was strikingly similar to last years contest between these colleges on the same grijiron, except that then the Presidents won by a single point after a touchdown, IA to 13. Lafayette had somewhat the better of the argument today. Twice the Eastonians were within a few yards Of the goal line, but on each occa sion the Presidents presented a magnificent defense and the long. hard marches up the field went for naught. Washington and Jefferson never seriously threatened Lafayette after scoring its touchdown. Time and again Kirkleski and Chick nowski reeled off slashing gains for Lafayette on q short triple pass close behind the line. The Presidents could not fathom the play, except when their goal line was threatened. West, negro halfback for the Presidents, although watched closely. ran brilliantly, making great gains on off tackle thrusts.
