Tech Loses Hard Fight 10 Notre Dame Team, 35–7 NOTRE DAME, Ind, Oct. 27.-(By Associated Press.) The fighting Notre Dame eleven, conqueror of Army and Princeton. scored its third intersectional victory within three weeks today by defeating Georgia Tech, 35 to 2, before a crowd of 20,Oo0 spectators that damned every inch of Carver field. The game band of southerners fought a stiff uphill fight, but fell before sheer superior ity and a superbly executed brand of football. Coach Rockne of the Notre Dame warriors threw a secondary backfiefd into tho fray at the start, keeping his stars on the side lines, but after the Georgians started a threatening drive on the first few plays after the kickoff, Notre Dame’s aces were hurled into the contest. Rockne sent In reserves with the precision of general rushing divisions into, bat tie and had three full teams in the game before its completion. With the brilliant Notre Dame backfield In action Georgia Tech score touchdown only when Rock never threatened and managed to ne’s reserves were in the game. The Notre Dame backfield, consisting of Layden at full, Crowley and Miller at the halves and Stuhldrehr at quar- ter. performed with the same dash and speed that characterized their work against the Army and Prince ton. The sensational running of Don Miller of Defiance, O., the speediest man in the baclkfield, was the out standing feature. Miller ran 59 2–3 yards for a touch down and broke through the entire Georgia team for another dash of SS yards, but the score was not all lowed because of penalty. Maher. who substituted for Miller in the last period, repeated his performance against Princeton, when he tore off left tackle and then cut back~through the field for 46-yard run and touchdown. Stuhldrehr, Notre Dame’s quarter, also performed brilliantly in open field running. He took punt on his 35yard line, reversed marvellous interferenc5 for r’a a 4Segard SeSard run until forced out of bounds Wyckoff, fullback of the southern team, fought the battle of his team. scoring their only touchdown and kicking goal. Back of the famous Tech shift he plunged through the line for big gains and his passes 10 Albright, Williams and Gardner in th the Inlrd period paved the way for the Georgia Tech score. He smashed the ball just a few inches from the over right tackle for a touchdown Notre Dame goal. Iecn’ although decisively beaten, Played @ dangerous game throughout. me .southerners made eight first downs to Notre Danes six. and ex- ceiled in passing, completing four out or SIX for 79 yards. while Notre Dame completed only one out of four for go yards.
