2 Worried Teams In California AS Result of Games SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 29.-The Pacific coast football situation today resolved itself into cxultant and two badly frightened major teams. Washington State and the Uni versity of Southern California were exultant with just right. California and Stamford were frightcncd-with equal reason. The defeat of Stanford by U. S. c. Saturday IA to 7 was no less blow to the Cardinals than was Cal ifornia s inability to do better than defeat Washington State 8 to 0, a blow to California. Many critics had considered both U. $. G. and Washington State “wcak’‘ teams. Stanford threw away it’s game with U. S. c., but even the most ardent Stanford followers had to admit that the Trojams could not have won unless they knew how and could play football. The 9 to 0 score which gave victory to California over Washington State was the smallest score California has run up in three seasons with the exception of the tie she played with Washington and jefferson at Pasadena two years ago.

Mary’s and Santa Clara by larger scores than the Bears made against the same teams. But that Stanford is below the form of the University of Washington was made clear through Stanford’s down fall. IA to Z, at the hands of Southern California on Saturday. Washington the previous week humbled the southerners, % to 0. To date Blewett’s drop and place kicking for goals has been the out standing feature of California’s game, but he did not get much of chance against Washington State.
