  IDAHO OUTPLAYS Utah BUT LOSES KELLEY’S MEN RETURN FROM IL TO DEFEAT AT SALT LAKE. / University of Idaho varsity football players returned Monday noon from Salt Lake where they were defeated ! IL to 7, by the University of Utah Saturday afternoon. AS shown by ac- tual yardage statistics the best team did not win although no attempt was made by players to alibi and Coach Thomas Kelley never alibies. Kelley would make no statement. An Idaho tumble, the only one of the game, paved the way for the first Utah score, according to press reports. Utah was unable to gain through the Idaho line and Smith, quarterback, on dropkick from the Is yard line booted the ball through the cross arms for three points for Utah. 1t was the only score of the first half. One of the most sensational runs ever made on the Utah field resulted in a Utah touchdown. Such run is seldom seen on a collegiate football fild and is one of the freaks of the game Irving on his own 25 yard line booted the ball IS yards. 1t was the longest punt of the game and Smith had to back up to his own 20 yard line to receive the oval. The Idaho ends and tackles were down but Smith, one of the greatest open field runners ever seen on Utah field, flashed through the entire Idaho team on an so yard run to touchdown. The second Utah touchdown came as the result of an intercepted Idaho forward pass Hagen, Utah right halfback, leaped high in the air for the Idaho pass, grbbed off the ball, and with good protection went 40 yards to touchdown. Sherman Breshears scored the Ida ho touchdown. There was a Utah tumble and. the scrappy and catty member of the illustrious Breshears family scooped the ball up and ran for touchdown. The depend able Irving booted the ball for goal rom touchdown. AS shown by statistics compiled on he game the Idaho team made more han 900 yards on yardage to 200 Yards for the Utah team. In the last quarter alone on forward passes Ida 10 made 200 yards only. to have re- ,eiver of pass drop the ball as he vas over the Utah line.
