Tornado Swamps Rutgers in South; Score, 48 to Ia Georgia Tech Eleven Treats Sandford’s Men II e a | Roughly on Atlanta Field ATLANTA, Oct. 22.-Georgia Techs of the season was bowling success, Rutgers doing most of the bowling while they were absorbing the az to IA defeat placed on them by the Golden Tornado at Grant Field to-day. Out of the maze of Yellow Jackets who made names for themselves in repelling the invasion of the New Jersey collegians, stands the sorrel topped dome of “Red Barron” who flashed around the Rutgers ends with apparent ease, until he was taken out in the third quarter, after making three touchdowns, all from scrimmage. Tech. scored two touchdowns in the opening quarter, stuck up two more in the second and kept 1t up until the struggle was drawn to a close. Pen alties were frequent for Rutgers, the visiting players losing many yards through this feature. In the first period they threatened to leave the field after tifteen-yard penalty. The tackling of Sanford’s charges was the worst that has been uncorked on Grant Field this season, but their for ward passing game, while it probably lacks whole lot in soundness, was extremely effective. Their first touchdown, scored in the first quarter, resulted from a beautiful delayed pass, Waite to Dick enecn, that Melted 80 yards and the marker. In the second half and we’ll toward the close of the game, Rutgers started a running attack that threatened to prove serious to the Jackets cause. On sus. Il zee attack, the New Jerseyites advanced the ball from their own 22yard line to Techs 7. only to lose their chance for touchdown when Waite, the big fullback, fumbled. Tech. them kicked weakly, but when Rutgers failed to gain on a flock of forward passes the ball went over and the Tornado soon advanced it away from the danger zone rkn Ena.ur,.

RUTGERS SWAMPED BY GEORGIA TECH Red Barron Stars in 4S-to-14 Victory Over Heavy Fasteners. ATLANTA. Ga, Oct. 22.-Rutgers outweighed the Golden Tornado of Georgia today, but that was all. They were completely outclassed, outplayed, outfought. outgeneralled and out everything else. The final score was 4S to II. Rutgers had a ghost Of a show merely during the rrst five min utes of play. When after Red Bar ron had broken loose with a twenty-yard dash around end for Techs first touchdown, the East erners came right back with a touchdown on forward pass Dickinson crossing the line. Then the score was tied, but a few min utes later Barron on the same play as before ran exactly the same distance to a second touch down, putting Tech in the lead and they were never headed. The Scarlet’s second and final score came in the fourth period, with Tech leading them 48 to 4 The Yellow Jacket second and third stringers had been showed into the fray and Dickinson once more counted after recovering fumbled punt. His run was for twenty yards. The one brief flash in the first quarter was all that Rutgers had. Their big numbering linesmen were COM pletely baffled by the feet backs of the Tornado” The jump shift worked perfectly and to Red Bar ron, Judy Harlan and Jimmy Brew ster, backfield stars won the hon ors of the day. Their offensive work was beautiful to behold. 1t was easily the toughest game played here in years.
