Alabama Second of Southern Teams to Invade Eastern GridironS and Carry Off the Victory-CaSe Unable to Gain Cleveland, O., November 27. Special )-Uncovering an ex- ceptionally brilliant attack in the second half, the University of Alabama eleven to d a y triumphed over Case, 40 to 0, upon Van Horn field, thus roll ing up five more points on the Scientists than Michigan did earlier in the season. Only a small crowd was present, the majority of the football enthusiasts of Cleveland evidently preferrng to attend the game at Dunn Field, which was for the scholastic championship of the city. The 1000 who did turn out were rewarded by seeing in action the best college this year. They saw in Riggs Stephenson, the all- southern fullback player who probably is the equal of Moon Ducote of Alabama Poly, who was q member of the Cleve- land naval reserves two years ago, one of the greatest fulipacks whoever ap- peared on a Cleveland gridiron. There was not a department of the game in which Stephenson. who is to be a mem- Der of the Cleveland Indians next season did not shine. He ran the ends like a scared rabbit. He hit the line like a can non ball, He punted the ball for long distances. He backed up the line most effectively on defense and how he did throw the ball when making passes! Time and again he made passes of 15, 20, B and even more yards, right into the hands of Clemens or Hovater. They were not night aerial passes. On the contrary they might be compared with the line drives of baseball. They left his hand with the speed of baseball and were true to the mark. Although displaying brilliancy in every part of the game. it was in pass ing the ball and plunging through tht line that Stephenson excelled When he took the ball and broke through tho Case line end and kept on going. he left a wake of injured Scientists, some of whom lost all desire to resume playing. The further the game went the harder Stephenson was to stop. A veritable bat tering ram he proved to be and the Case warriors could well express their satis- faction that the Ohio elevens can boast of few such juggernauts Next to Stephenson as stars wers Clemens, the Alabama left end, and Le- noir, left half better receiver of for
