SYRACUSE ROMPS OVER DARTMOUTH Orange Team Wins 10 to Q Through Sheer All Round Supremacy. Special Despatch TO THE NEW foHK HERALD HANOVER, n. H. Oct. 23.--Dartmouth went down to defeat to-day when the Orange eleven from Syracuse stepped In with It’s powerful line and its unexpected strength in the backfield to snatch a 10 to victory. Tho victory OF the visitors came through all around supremacy and SYRIA cuse lived UP 10 all the championship reputation with which IL entered the bat tie Dartmouth thus dropped the first clash on her home grounds since the memorable tilt with Colgate on Alumni Oval IN the autumn of 1905. For the Orange a new boy broke into the hall of fame m the person OF Babe Frugone of Brooklyn. The youngster. hitherto used as a substitute half, was shifted early IN the week to quarterback and at this position started the game to-day He ran the team to perfection and turned in the best runs of the after noon. some of which were largely responsibIe for the touchdown scored by Syracuse. Robertson In Good Form. CAPT. Robertson at right end performed in a manner worthy OF an All American choice OF last year. He seemed charmed In evading the entire Green Interference sent his way and caught the Dartmouth backs for a loss time and again. Foster. taking Abb bolts place In the last half. was an other Orange star who can be credited for a large share In the victory for the visitors. Dartmouth, although slightly out classod was never outfought. but the advantage of tho Orange line In cheer weight was too much for the Green forwards, and they failed 70 open up large enough holes on the offence. For Dartmouth Sonnenberg and Cum ningham were the limelights Of the line. Cunningham, at centre, was opposite Joe Alexander, All American mention for last year. but he played rings around the Syracuse snapper back. On many occasions no broke through TO nall the Syracuse man IN his tracks. Sonnenberg figured In practically every play and smeared many OF the attacks directed against his portion OF the line for losses. He also did the punting. which compared favorably with that OF the opponents. In tho Dartmouth bHckfield Holbrook and Jordan accounted for themselves in tho best manner. Jordan handled the team well at quarter and made several runs Of over 25 yards Shelburne’s return was welcomed and he made good. although he was forced TO retire In the second half on account Of his old In jury. Orange scores Borly.
