Tigers Prepare For Game With Atlanta Eleven Sewanee, Tenn, October 15.-(Special) ) Sewanee’s 54 to 0 triumph over George town College of Kentucky in the second game of the season brought much icy to the hearts of the Purple supporters, and there is talk that the Tigers are likely to develop a really fine team this fall. When Bryson College held sewanee to ‘ to 0 score the week before it looked as if the Tigers might not have much of team, despite the large number ot candidates out. many of whom were likely looking youngsters. It must be re- membered, however, that in the Bryson game there were a number of freshmen who had not settled down to playing d steady game. the backs had not hean working together, there was no inter ference and little charging the part of the line men. Also, neither Captain Coaghlan nor Sl<dmore was in harness During the week elapsing between the Bryson and the Georgetown game a complete reversal of form took place in the Tigers, and the team Coach Abell sent against the Kentucky outfit was 100 per cent better than Bryson encoun- tered. The line charged better and lower, some interference was in evidence and the tackling was surer and harder. The backs were quick to take advantage ot the holes opened by the line and the Tigers gained many yards by this route. It is not possible to pick any outstand- ing star in the game last Saturday. for the entire team performed well, but the ability of Kenneth Council at fulibach, until relieved by smith, is deserving ct especial mention This small Mississppi lad literally went into the line like a pile driver There was no stopping him once he got started. His good work was con tnued by Smith, who halls from i5ir- mingham, and there Is little to choose be- tween the two Doe Cook, also from Birmingham, showed great possibilities at quarter after he had relieved Har- per. who was switched to half It would not be surprising if Cook landed a berth at quarter as a regular and Harper sent 10 his old place at halfback. Cook calls his signals well and haldles the team like an old head. He mixes up his plays in fine fashion and is no slouch at ad- vancing the ball. Big Skidmore at tackle, is showing much better l.’s early in the season than he did last D. He takes to the game like a duck .o water, and had no diff ficulty in going through the Georgetown line time after time. Tlam, at the other tackle, played steady and consistent game, and seems to have landed a place aS a regular. cooper Luton, WHo tore up things around Memphis in his prep school days, is another first-class tackle. But Litton did not get an opportunity to show his ability at that position in the Georgetown game, because Skid more and El3m were going too good td be taken ont. The coach, however. sent Iitton in at guard to relieve Satterlee, and at that position the Memphis star played a steady game Stoney. at the ether guard. and Conway and Harold Council. all letter nen, performed in old- time fashion and Georgetown was unable to gain many wards through them.
