  STRUGGLE TO TIE Kansas and Oklahoma Both In able To Make Counter. Get Few Penalties -RubIe Almost Scored. Lawrence. Kan, Nov. 10.-The Kan sas Jayhawkers and Bennie Ovens Oklahoma Sooners battled to a score less tie in a football game on McCook field here Saturday afternoon. It was a game replete with misplays and threatened scores. Neither team had the punch to score on the other. tho both were dangerous at all times. Offside players and fumbles cost each team many chances to score. On one occasion an offside Kansas player cost the Jayhawkers touchdown made by Ruble when he recovered a tumble and dashed 25 yards across the Sooner scoring line. Nettels and Wood Out. Neither Nettels, all-Valley tackle, nor Wood, veteran Kansas quarter, were in the game for the Jayhawkers. Their absence weakened the team somewhat, tho it cannot be said that the men who filled their places were lacking in ability. The game showed a great improve ment in one of Kansas greatest first of-season weaknesses. In the first four games played this season the men of McCarty were assessed total of more than 500 yards in penalties. In the Oklahoma game the Kansans drew penalties totalling a bare thirty yards.
