Old Grads See Huskers Humble Jayhawks, 10 to Z Thousands of Former Students Assemble for Home coming Day. Clash Between Nebraska and Kansas; Locals Take Early Lead but Fall Behind in Second Quarter. Lincoln, NeO., NOV. lo.-\oPeSld Telegram. )-Nebraska, 10; Kansas 7. The superintendent Of Richard Dick” Newman, quarterback for the University of Nebraska foot bal eleven, heretofore rated as a Sub stitute,” sent the powerful Husker team to its second victory of the season in their 18th annual season with the Kansas Jayhawks at Ne braska field here today. Newman, in the second quarter “hurtled” over the Kansas center from the latter’s two-yard line for the first score of the game and in the third and fourth quarters sent Captain Dobson through left tackle on one of Schu1te’s touchdown tc gain” maneuvers and hurled a for ward pass over the Jayhawk goal line to Swanson for the winning Ne braska touchdown. Played Brilliantly. The Huskers played brilliant foot ball throughout. Opposed by perhaps the strongest, best balanced and weightieSt team yet met, Coach Schulte’s phenoms were driving demons on every play, under the excellent generalship of Newman, concorning whom one uninterested spectator after the game referred to as a wizard” The Nebraskans’ line and backheld played as one man, brooking no opposition. The Kansas score surprised many. From the first whistle the Huskers looked like the winners. However, shortly after the first Nebraska touchdown in the second quarter a couple of end runs by Dale resulted m failures in midheld, the big 1Iusker fullback, though he alone had up to this time gained approx mately 100 yards through the line, being thrown for two losses. Kansas took the ball and chiefly through the smashing tactics of one Pringle, their fullback, carried it to the Husker 14-yard line. Here a forward pass, Pringle to Vaudeville, was completed, carrying the ball to the Husker three-yard line. A line buck failed, but on surprise run Pringle swept Wind over the goal line for the Jayhawk score. Loberg kicked goal. 1t was: Kansas, 7; Ne braska, E. Hubka Hits Line. In the second half the Huskers showed tremendous offensive power. Dale had been replaced by Howarth and the latter by Hubka. The big Bohemian, true to, past form, as sailed the Jayhawk center and for wards for gains of 8, 10 and, IL yards at click. Captain Dobson ran many times for gains as dis astrous to the Kansas line. Huskers Show Form. The second quarter found the Jay hawkers at their best. Plunging through for varied gains, led by the towering Pringle, who has been a familiar figure on Nebraska field for three years past the Kansans carried the ball to the Husker goal line and crossed. The opening quarter, though no score was made, was all Nebraska’s. Five minutes after the start of the second half, following dubbed drop kick by Captain Dobson from his own 42-yard line. Reid of the Jayhawkers attempted punt into Husker territory from his own 20 yard line. The kick was blocked, Day, Husker center, recovering. Then began the Nebraska march for their second touchdown. Hubka, tackle, went in for Howarth at right halfback. The big Bohemian smashed through center fir six yards and again repeated for three more. Plunges by Dobson and Hubka carried the ball to the Jayhawk seven-yard line, when Quarterback Newman called trick end run, interference to the right and runner to the left, Captain Dob
