CADETS SMOTHERED BY THIN RED LIN” Alabama Runs ROugh-Shod Over Marion in One sided Battle University, Ala, October “a. Especial. I’m the last game to be played on the campus this year and under the rays of a sweltering sun, Alabama run rough shod over the lighter team of the Marion college here this afternoon and won by a : score of 81 too. The score, as one-sided as it is, does not tell the superiority of Alabama over Sthe cadets. Only the summer temperature and the short quarters prevented Alabama from making the score regular landslide. So greedy were the Grim son warriors that Coach Clarkson’s men were unable to get their grabblers on the oval during the first half. On an effort by Emmett to kick a field goal, in the Last play of the first half, the ball went over. The Marion eleven made only one first down, that on forward pass, but they never got in hearing distance of the Crimson goal EMMETT MAKES GREAT RUN Coach Scott saw his team perform feat that he has been wishing for all the season. In the second quarter EN- NETT caught the pigskin on a kickoff and carried it back 80 yardsSfor a touch down. Bartlett, not to be outdone, took kop-of for So yards right through the Marion lire and a touchdown One serious fault that doomed up in the Crimson line was that of holding. Several times the team was also PEN allied for offsides- In close game the > penalties would have been serious !iardicap Coach Scott calmly took note o all veak plays in the Crimson line which ean be corrected before the game of ganes with Sewanee in birmingham rext Saturday. The game was so one sided it would be hard to picE an in dividual star as each player was practically able to do as he pleased against the less experienced Marion squad Hood played one of his best games at left tackle. He demonstrated by his break ing through the line that he will be one of the stones in the wall that the Grim son team hopes to throw against the Tennessee Tigers next Saturday. THREE REGULARS OUT Three of Alabama’s varsity players did not get intthe game. Sessions was out on account of a dslocated arm, while Boone and O’Conner didn’t appear in the lineup on account of minor injuries. Lenoir and Stevenson, Alabama’s Strupper-Guyon combination, only played few minutes as Coach Scott didn’t wish to take any chance of having them in lul ed so near the Sewanee game. The Birmingham boys who played good ball during the game were Moore and Doster Moore started the game at full
