Saturday. football games Ia the SCUM eliminated two elevens which in previous years have figured prominent as prospective champions almost to the end OF the season. Vanderbilt was put out OF the running by Georgia Tech, while Sewanee wac unable to cope with the University Of Gcorgia’s RAPIDLY improving play. Tech’s victory over the Commodores was decisive and impressive. Coach Mcdugin’s men were never able to threaten the yellow Jackets goal. while the otfcnse of the Tech Juggernauts was working smoothing. In contrast to the Indifferent showing made against Clemson a week ago. Georgia’s vic tory was cleancut over the University of the South and raised hopes. that even though the Athena eleven is play ing together for the first time this year, II must be ~reckoned with in the fight for the Southern title. Alabama and Mississippi A. g. NJ. continued to play well. The Alabama victory over Howard by n score IS to 0 was particularly worthy OF note. The Howard team held Auburn to a ~ to 6 score two weeks ago, and followed this by holding Sewanee to three touch downs. The thin red line” rushed the Birmingham men Off their feet, how ever, in much the same manner they had treated Mississippi University a week previously, their total point score In the two games being 81. Tennessee, which had PLAYED such a surprising game against Vanderbilt a week ago, bowed before Mississippi A. e. M. s to o, In a hard-fought contest.
