  BROWN FOOTBALL TEAM EASY VICTOR Defeats Rhode Island State in Opener, ~ to O. Providence, Sept. 27.-Brown defeated Rhode Island here this afternoon. % to 0. in a game marked by much fumbling, Brown used many substitutes. The scoring began early. Samson caught Rhode Island punt near midheld and ran 1t back ten yards. After several successful PUSHES by Brooks Jemail. Armstrong and Samson. Brooks went over the line for a touchdown, and Arm strong kicked goal Taking the ball on Rhode Islands nineteen yard line in the second period. the Bruins broke through for another score after several short gains. Goal was Kicked. BY this time many substitutes were in the game, and Brown s play slowed accordingly. BY thirty yard run In the third reriod.
