test in two years next Saturday when they journey TO Annapolis. This game now looms up as one ofNthe biggest in the east. and the Middies and Gil Dobie will have to do some tall hustling between now and November 90 .. Navy Swamped Ursinus :, The Navy swamped Crsinus Saturday by the score of 127 to o, which might not prove the strength of the team, but shows~the players have endurance. The Great Lakes-Navy battle will be worth going miles to see. Another. star eased into the picture out In Ann Arbor Saturday when Michlgan walloped Syracuse. The hero in question is Mr. Steketee. who plays fullback for Mr.. Yost. This guy put over some big league stuff when he scored a touchdown and booted three goals from the field, making every one of the Is points. To make his act look stronger, Mr.. Steketee did all of his goal-kicking in a heavy rainstorm, which naturally damp ened the field and made the ball wet and slippery. He may improve If he plays | football long enough. Syracuse by the way, has a strong eleven this fall so It safely can he said that,-tire result was quite SURPRISING. Wysocki Breaks Arm While on shc subject Of bootng, LChigh lost to Penn state 7 TO 6 because Booth failed to kick the goal after the Bethlehem score. But sadder ! than the defeat to Lehigh was the loss of Vincent Wysocki, one of the best -backfield men in the east. who suffered | l.. l.. f.s.- lao rest of the season. At halftme in the League Island Brown game on Franklin Field. it looked as if a missed goal might result in a Dickson defeat. Simmer failed at the try after Haehls touchdown and Brown led at the intermission to G. But BY Dickson had a few words to say to his proteges between the halves and Frank Poth also had few stirring things to get off his mind with the result that when the local sailors and marines took the field at the start of the thru period. their fighting spirit was just sticking out of their eyes. Cornog Starts Rally Allie Cornog booted a field goal from the iO-yard line in the third session and | in the fourth quarter. the League Island boys swept through Brown for two | touchdowns. The final service touchdown was made | by young man who wore ‘’27’ in large numbers on his back. He replaced I rCornog when the former Swarthmore captain was disqualified for mixing ii with Cushman, an opposing end and he tore the Brown defense apart will, his line plunges. No. twenty-seven was listed in the program as Slaughter. and the player lived up to his program name. 1t wasn’t his name but he lived UP to it anyhow | The young man was Bert Ieabsley former Ewing star fullback and base ball player. who had borrowed Slaughter.s jersey.
