Bob Pellegrini played center at Maryland (to 1955). He finished sixth in the 1955 Heisman vote and was a consensus All‑American in 1955. The Philadelphia Eagles took Pellegrini in the first round, No. 4 overall in the 1956 NFL Draft. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
