NAVY HAS IT EASY AGAINST HAVERFORD Rides In on Crest of Thirteen TouchdoWns and Eleven GoaIs-Score, $50. ANNAPOLIS. Md, October 27.-Although the Navy steam-roller was not working quite so smoothly as 1T had against the Redskins laat Saturday. Haverford was rolled fiat and then smothered In an avalanche of thirteen touchdowns and eleven goals here this afternoon. The score was SO to in favor of the Sailors. This tally made the Middies total for three games. in which Maryland State. Carlisle and Haverford were blanked, 212 points. This is keeping up the record OF Coach Gilmour Dobie during the past twelve years. Notwithstanding their high score. IA points OF which were made in each ANAL period after Dobie had sent his varsity to the gym and made an eneleven. the Middies did not show the , same pep and teamwork which marked their appearance against the Braves from Carlisle last week Overconfidence, coupled with the sultriness of the after noon. may have contributed to this. Haverford Seldom Has Ball. Electing to do the kicking off. the visitors were from that point on han dicapped in all efforts to get possession of the ball. Only three times in the entire sixty minutes of play did they have the pigskin in their possession. On none Of these occasions did they hold 1t for more than a few seconds and not until the wholesale substitutions in the third quarter were they able to make first down. The Middies on the other hand made first down thirty-two times. Find ing their opponents line easy and after u couple of tries realizing that In grams punting was about twenty yards better than Leonards the Middies resorted almost entirely to line-bucking, off-tackle shots and end runs. Only five times did they essay forward passing Two OF these tries grounded and one was intercepted. OF the other two. one from Combs to Ingram was good for % yards. The Middies made first down thirty-two times during the struggle.

HAVERFORD IS EASY FOR MIDDIES’ ELEVEN Pennsylvanians Are Completely Routed by Navy Machine. Annapolis, Md, Oct 27.-Working with the ease and precision of a well-oiled piece of machinery. the navy football team this afternoon completely routed the eleven of Haverford College of Haverford. Pa. The scoring machine also worked its way into the century figures. The sailor lads simply bowled over their opponents just as they seemed to see fit and when the final whistle was sounded by the referee they had piled up a score of eighty-nine points to nothing. A record for a navy team. Haverford was hopelessly out classed and out-played in every department of the game. Fighting along as doggedly there was no stopping of the navy onslaught. On the other hand the Pennsylvanians did not threaten to score at any stage of the contest. In fact their offensive work was so poor that they managed to register only one first down and that came about through the success achieved in one out of multitude of forward passes which they attempted. Their general offensive work lacked the smoothness and dash that characterized the play of the future naval officers and furthermore the visiting backfield men found the navy forwards like a stone wall. The Middies invaded the goal line OF their foe on thirteen occasions and eleven of the resultant tries for goals there from were successful.
