WINS FROM CORNELL TEAM Ithacans Completely outcassed Losing To Quake BY One sided Score of % to 3-Pennsylvana’s Victory First One Over Cornell Since 1912. Philadelphia, Nov. so.--The Uni versity Of Pennsylvania football team stalked over. around and through the Cornell eleven here this afternoon, burying the Ithacans under a score of 23 to 3. 1t was the first victory for the Red and Blue over the Ithacans since 1912. And tonight the last vestige of doubt which may have existed that Penn chose wisely in selecting Robert Folwell to lead her team out of the quagmire of disaster which has enveloped the Red and Blue for the past few seasons, has been wiped away. Foiwell has delivered. The decisive defeat administered to the Ithacans TODAY was the last convincing argument. Penn Is back on the road again to place among the front runners in gridiron circles. The team which defeated Cornell today went about its job In a workmanlike manner. The steady rain. which began Wednesday afternoon and continued well into the night, left much to be desired In the way of a playing field. The ground was wet and on numerous occaSlO nS plays were missed because the runner slipped and fell. $4,000 Fans Witness Game. However, the day was all that could have been asked from a spectators standpoint. The clouds had broken by the time of the game and the sun shone down. toning off whatever chill the air might have had. And the crowd of about $4,000 responded literally to the call of the sport. Cap tain Matthews. of the Penn team. made a rather puny effort at kick ing off to start the game, and Bell made the mistake of downing the ball on his own Vineyard line, instead of allowing 1t to roll over. Berry kicked out of bounds. after two tries, at his thirty-hve-yard line. Three attempts by Cornell Melted a bare five yards. Shiverick them dropped to the thirty eight-yard line and booted goal for Cornell’s only three points. Penn Kicked off to Cornell again and Speed raced TO his twenty-sixyard line. Some time later Bell heaved a pass to Urquhart. who DASH ed forward to the Cornell goal twenty eight yards away. Berry kicked the goal. Beginning the second period Penn had the ball on her own thirty nine yard line with five yards needed Tor first down and two more chances TO make them. Bell shot pass to Mil Ter. who spiashed ahead for net gain of twenty-six yards and the ball was downed on Cornelrs twenty-ftve-yard line Two tries Melted but little gain and Berry missed a goal from twenty yard line. Later he succeeded from the twenty -fiye-yard line. 1t was nice kick under difficulties CorneIPs Chances Wiped Away. The third period developed the turns for Penn, which put the issue beyond doubt. Miller fought his way for a gain of twenty-six yards, carry ing the ball to Cornell’s six-yard line. In three trials Derr drove through the Cornell line for the touchdown. Berry missed the goal The Quakers were carrying the tina cans at rapid pace at this stage OF the game Mathews finally blocked shivericks kick. and Miller was first to the ball. grabbing 1t back of Cor nelPs line for touchdown. Berry kicked goal. In the final period the Quaker contfnued to beat the Reds back. Penns margin of victory fairly measures the degree of superiority of the Quakers over their opponents. The Penn line tore up the husky Cornell forwards time and time again. Captain Mat thews. of the winners. put UP a great
