Princeton Shut Out Rutgers. The Rutgers football team went to Princeton Saturday afternoon, supported by a contingent of 100 students, who car ried red flags to use in the event of their scoring against Princeton. Being the opening game of the season. Princeton ians were greatly interested, and many old graduates and famous football players were on hand to size up Phil. Kings team. Peter Poe and Tracy Harris and Pringie Jones of the ’89 team made notes of the playing. Princeton’s rush-line work was weak and ragged. There was q lack of team work, which must soon disappear. Rutgers had a fairly good team, and often broke through Princeton’s line. the weak spot of which was right tackle and guard. Symmes playe.i a good game at centre, Ramney being no match for him. The game was not marked by any phenomenal plays. The only long runs We’re made by King, whose work was excellent. Romans kicked in his usual good form. The Rutgers team never got nearer Prince tons goal than twenty-five yards. Last year they carried the ball within three feet OF Princeton’s goal. and kept Prince ton down to twelve points. Rutgers team was beaten by 80 to 0.
