NAVY EMPLOYS VILLANOVA AS HUMAN DUMMY Failure of MiddieS TO Solve For war dPass Only Blight on 81 to 7 Victory Annapolis, Md, Nov. 1s.-The Naval Academy won this afternoon from Villa nova by score Of 81 to 7, slightly smaller figure than the Army made against the same team month ago. The Navy. however, changed its play ers frequently and had no difficulty IN scoring when anything like its normal strength was on the field. Forty-one of the points were scored in the first half. The single touchdown and goal made by the visitors came near the beginning of the last quarter. Except for the fact that the Navy could not solve the forward pass plays used oy the visitors in the second hall, the game was very satisfactory. The game was started with Whelchel at quarter, Perry and Ingram at the halves and Roberts at full. This is CON sidered the best backfield, with posibly the substitution of Butler for Perry. Thirteen points were scored during the first quarter. Davis and Martin took the places of Ingram and Roberts in the second quarter, and after slow start, twenty-eight points were scored in the period. Nearly every back who was tried in the game did well. During large portion Of the second half the Navy was using third string players. A variety OF forward pass plays met with considerable success, also one triple pass in the third quarter. A pass from McGuckin 10 Reap at the beginning of the fourth quarter, which. with the run. covered sixty yards. gave Villsnova its touchdown. The visitors were within an ace OF scoring two other times by means OF similar plays. The Navy was utterly unable TO solve these plays, though its formation had been considered almost impregnable. On the whole, the showing Of tho Navy team to-day encouraged it’s friends greatly. The only thing about to-day’s game which gives apprehension Is the success Villanova had with forward pass plays. This play has been the Nays undoing on many occasions. The lineup follows:
