Vanderbilt Gains Lead, But Tennessee Wins Out Later AIDS IN TENNESSEE RALLY Rabbit Curry Races Seventy Yards to Touchdown Through Broken Field-VOwell Scores Touch down That Brings Victory Knoxville, Tenn, Novem- Der 1.-THE University OF Tennessee football squad defeated the fast Vanderbilt eleven here this afternoon 10 to 6 and retained her standing in the race for the southern championship. When the Vanderbilt squad arrived in Knoxville this morning the odds were about a to 1 in favor of the visitors. The first three minutes OF play, however, demonstrated that the conquerors of Virginia had a real game on hand. Vanderbilt, receiving the ball on the first kickoff, failed to make Roadway against Tennessee’s heavy line and after five minutes of play Tennessee swept across the field to Vanderbilts 2-yard line, where they fumbled and lost the ball. Vanderbilt scored first when rabbit” Curry, Vanderbilt’s fleet quarter, ran 70 yards through broken field for touchdown in the second period In the same quarter A. Hatcher, for Tennessee made place kick. In the third quarter Tennessee scored the winning touchdown. OF sanding long materially assisted Tennessee to victory. Curry failed to show his usual brilliancy for Vanderbilt and was forced to retire in the last quarter. This was Tennessees first victory over Vanderbilt since 1914 In 1915 the Commodore scored an easy victory: Lineup and summary Tennessee DOG. Vowel (captain), left end; NJ.
