MAINE PROVES EASY VICTIM OF ARMY SUBS Oliphant and Vidal Star for Soldiers in Dull Game Won by IL to 3 Score West Point, N. Y, Nov. 1.-THE Army won from the University OF Maine here to-day by score of II to 3. The game was dull and uninteresting throughout, and was marred by fire. quent penalties and much fumbling on both sides. The Cadets started play with an entire team Of substitutes and made many other substiAutions during the course of the contest. The reserves displayed a woful lack of football knowledge and were weak on the offence. The Cadets scored first in the second period, Cole going over for the touch down and kicking the goal after the best bit of offensive drive of the day. The Soldiers also registered another touchdown in the third period, with all their varsity men in the lineup, Oil plant getting this one after Vidal and Place had carried the ball twenty-five yards and had been stopped on Names 1-yard line. Oliphant was the only back that could carry it over, although all the others tried. Maine fought hard at this point, but could not resist the redoubtable Hoosier’s drives. Vidal booted field goal from drop kick while standing on the 48yard line in the last period. Allen, for Maine, kicked a placement goal in the last few minutes of play after penalty and a tumble had given Maine the ball on the Army’s 20-yard line. Tho Iine-un follows.
