  MAROONS ARE beaten BY CARLETON COLLEGE Chicago. Oct. 7.-Carleton College is a little school somewhere in Mime sota,’ but it sent football team down to Chicago today that set the Maroons down on the short end of to 0 score. 1t was to be only a practice game for Chicago, but the fierce at tacks Of the Gophers and a pop-up kick by Pershing, Maroon quarter, made it real battle with the odds against the big school through the whole game. Cartoons touchdown came in the second quarter when Pershing punted on his own 1o-yard line. The kick went straight up in the air and Garlic ton took the ball on Chicago’s 15-yard line.
