The score was 35 to o. Only once during the entire game was the Syracuse goal in danger. This was near the close of the last quarter when Occidental by a series of forward passes and punts aided by a tumble, rushed the ball within two yards of the goal The Syracuse line braced and held. Occidental attempted forward pass but it was intercepted and on the next play Syracuse punted sout of danger A ninety yard run by Slater of Syra- cuse in the last quarter was easily the most sensational feature of the game. Slater caught the ball from a kick off by Occidental and with the aid of in terference rushed down the field to the Occidental nine yard line before he was doWned. In the same quarter Lenz of Occidental brought the crowd to their feet when he intercepted Syracuse forward pass and broke through the line for a 8 yard run. It was the lolI50SL run Ilsiu6 Dy all OCCIueIlIdl man during the game. Captain McClung of the Occidental team, suffered a severe fracture of the right leg near the ankle at the begin ming of the third quarter when he was thrown by Slater. Syracuse demonstrated superior ability at line plunging and in circling the ends, but Occidental out ranked them in handling the forward pass Practically all of OccidentaIs gains were made with this method of play. Syracuses first touchdown came within nine minutes after the opening Of play. The second touchdown fol- lowed in four minutes Occidental held their heavier oppon- ents in the second quarter during the greater part of which the ball was in Syracuse territory. In the third quar- ter Slater of Syracuse kicked off to Smith, who downed the ball behind the line. making a safety for Syracuse. Syracuse scored three touchdowns in the last quarter, but Rose missed two goals. making the final score Syracuse B, Occidental 0. Iipa.
