H|NKEY CREDITED. !. !. FOR. YALE VICTORY Eli Coach BewiIders Notre Dame With Double and Triple Passes and Firm Defense. NEW HAVEN, Conn, Oct. S.-To Coach Frank Hinkey. Yale’s football coach, is being given credit for the defeat of Notre Dame by a 2S-to-O score. Save in the first period, when Notre Dame gained five first downs to none for the Blue. the visitors We’re out played and outgeneraled That Notre Dame used poor Judgment in trying to outrush Yale on fourth downs is admitted today. Time and again the Blue line held the Westerners for downs. smothering the attack in true Yale style. 1t was the bewildering attack Of the Yale team contaminated with double and triple passes. combining the forward pass, that spelled defeat for Coach Harper’s eleven. Notre Dame should have, scored twice. Eichenlaub, the visiting quarter, ran his team to the brink Of the Yale goal line in the second quarter, only to have time called. Later in the game a penalty for substituting the same man twice cost Notre Dame another chance to score. Hinkey substituted many players when the game was well in hand, but this in no way served to weaken the eleven. That the Blue team has come forward with a rush under the coaching Of Hnkey, is proving to be the feature of the rejuvenated Yale fortunes.
