Tho passes were accurate. but the receivers fingers must have been covered with butter for they could not hold the ball. Bucknen did not use the forward pass until the last few minutes, when she uncorked nine OF them in rapid fire, four meeting with success. The fifth one fell in the neutral zone behind the Tiger goal and gave Princeton the ball. The Tigers intro duced rugby passing to-day and it worked three on; OF four times, resulting in sub stantial gains In two instances. ham. briggs and Law booted some beau ties. They were straight and far and had sufficient height 10 give the ends ample time 10 cover rhe runner. The catching Of the punts was good, while Click, Tibbott and Eberstadt did some clever returning of them. Play was married by constant fumbling | and much OF the time 1t was anybody ball. ROsqa|l!z19vc178 All hail ‘‘Pinky’‘ Beales, hero of Saturdays football game with the Ne braska Cornhuskers! No, Washburn didn’t win but her defeat was nothing to be ashamed Of and she neld the Huskers to closer score than many OF her most enthusiastic supporters had anticipated. The Nebraska team outweighed this. Tchabods Is pounds to ed by previous victories in past years. Everything being considered, Coach “Crip” Gray is to be congratulated upon the good showing made, and IL he gets Wolfe and Bearg back in the line he will have a mighty good chance to bring the state Championship to Topeka. That the Jayhawkers will also be in the running for state honors was they made against William Jewell Saturday. This was the biggest score the X. u. squad has made against any team in recent years. and 1t was the first game of the season. too: Wood. a new lightweight quarterback for the Jayhawkers, seems to have been the star in the contest, but the kackfield, composed of Coolidge, Striker and Lindsey. also gave a good account of itself. The fact that Mr.. Wheaton, head coach at X. u, is an old William Jewell coach added a little touch of sentiment to Saturdays game. How ever it is to the coach’s credit that he is able to carry his horseshoes and his ascending star with him. The Aggies started out the season Saturday by making what supcrstitious people would call an unlucky score. However, as the game wasn’t played on Friday, maybe they will be able to overcome the hoodoo. Besides, Is is only unlucky when it is on the bottom. Undoubtedly, Southwestern thinks a goose egg more unlucky than the proverbal Is. The local high school also teels like it ought to get q look in at the cham pionship honors Of its class since 1t gave Junction City such a trouncing. gregation this season. but he also has some hard games scheduled. Hurry up Yost’s Michiganders brought back memories of the old point a-minute days in Saturdays game against Case, the score being So to 0. Twice during the game Maulbetsch, the Wolverines star offensive player, carried several wouldbe tacklers across the goal line with him when he made touchdowns. The two big surprises in Saturdays eastern football results were sprung by Franklin and Marshall and Bucknell. The former 0eI6aIe0 the university Oh Pennsylvania by the score of 10 to 0. and the latter held Princeton to the same score reversed. Football is coming into its own again at Baker and in Saturdays game the Baldwinites won from the Missouri Wesleyan squad at Baker makes as the football squad at Baker makes as good q showing as the endowment workers did, 1t will sure make the bugs sit up and take notice before tina season is over. Little old Colgate defeated Cornell 7 to and Pittsburg showed Westminster under to the tune of Fl to 10. 1t has not been learned here whether or not He’ll played in Saturdays game. The Rolla School Of Mines finally succeeded in defeating Missouri Saturday after many futile attempts. X. C. TEAM BEATS SOOS. Western League Team Loses Post Season Series ut Sioux City. Cridiron Gleanings From Leading Colleges College Teams of the Country Enjoy Light Work Today – Real Preparatory Tasks Tomorrow. and 1t gained ground only once. F. and M. tried the play three times and It failed each time. The net result of this play on Franklin Field this year is 1s attempts, II failures, l success. 1t must be demoralizing to Cornell to attempt to build up winning team for the big games after losing on successive Saturdays to Pittsburgh and Colgate. The victory of the latter team, though, need not be considered such a surprise, since this eleven was made up largely of the same men who last year held Cornell to 90 score and beat Yale Is to 6. The Indians decisive beating by Lehigh will give Cornell hope for Saturday. Yale beat Virginia by three touchdowns, playing open football. but the Southern ers marched down to their goal line half a dozen times with the rushing game The Ellis weren’t satisfied apparently with anything but the score. Princeton, too, had busy afternoon with Bucknell, but won out by 10 to 0. Tibbott scored his second drop-kick of the season. and if he can keep up this record he may challenge even Brickley. of Harvard. The Harvard eleven swamped Springfield Training School, 40, and Dartmouth buried Norwich under a score of 74–0 Dr. r. TAFT Mckenzie, physical director OF the Pennsylvania University who was called TO attend Don Carter, the husky centre, who had his knee dis located in a scrimmage Saturday. says Carter will be out of the game for at least three weeks Captain Journeay Is also suffering from badly sprained arm.
