AUBURN WINS FROM GEORGIA. HAS UNDISPUTED RIGHT 10 LAUREL WREATH OF s. I. I.A.A. Other Games In South Which Will no Staged on Thanksgiving Day Arc sewanee-Vanderbilt, Clemson. AtlS nta, Ga, Nov. 23.--with Au. burn in undisputed possession of the championship Of the Southern Inter. collegiate Athletic association for 1918 through its victory here yesterda, over the University OF Georgia, inter. est among Southern football enthu. siasts now Is centred upon the games which will close the season mex, Thursday. While the disposal OF the 8. L A. A, championship before the end of the season doubtless will impart to the Thanksgiving games something Of the nature OF anti-climaxes. there Is little likelihood Of q decrease In public IN. terest In majority OF these contests, most Of which are time. honored In stitutiona With tho exception OF the Georgia Auburn battle. Southern football yes. terday produced little OF interest, a majority OF tho FIRST string elevens taking an Off day In order to be IN shape for Thanksgiving games. Sin. gularly enough the leading teams OF the 8. I. A. A. again played to form” yesterday. Auburn. the strong favor ite. winning from Georgia by the often predicted margin Of two touch downs Gridiron experts has based their forecasts upon tho superior weight and reserve strength Of Auburn, which all now agree won the championshlp for the Alabama team. It also ia worthy Of note that Auburn’s style OF play was confined exclusively 70 “oidfashiGned” football. Of the sort play Cd under the ave yards In three downs rules. 0ecrgta’s one touch down was due. on the other hand, to a we’ll timed forward pass. Perhaps the most interesting Of next Thursdays strictly Southern games will be that between Sewanee and Vanderbilt. In view OF tho showing made thus far by these elevens, the battle to be fought this year on Dud- Icy field should be a herculean struggle. with the outcome exceedingly doubtful Another Southern game that should prove close will be the Clemson. 0eor. gta Tech meet at Atlanta Clemson has shown flashes Of exceptional strength this year. and In the pas, has proven a stubborn antagonist against the Yellowjacketa Among the Southeastern Thanksgiving games that between Virginia and North Carolina should be one Of the best Of the year. The v. NJ. I.-v. p. I. battle also Is expected to result In q close score Other games in the South next Thursday are: South Carolina vs. Citadel, at CO. lumbia.
