LONG FLING WORKS Forward Passes BY Visitors Mystify the West Side coIlegians-contest Is Rough from Start. Georgetown caught a tartar in the football eleven representing Wesleyan University, of Buck hannon, w. Va, yesterday, and went down to Is to 6 defeat. The visitors simply forward passed the Hilltoppers out of the league, giving the most brilliant exhibition of the open style of football ever seen on the Hilltop Field. During the second half, after Georgetown had been fooled so often by the visitors long fling, the wearers of the Blue and Gray . knew Just what was coming off, and yet were unable to break it up. For jumping into the air and catching the ball, Right End Neale has anything beaten TO a frazzle around these parts, while Quarter Back Stansbury in heaving the pigskin was as accurate as Walter Johnson with the count two and three on a batter. KeIIIson Drops One Over! Stansbury and Neale beat the Hilltoppers, while Right Tackle Kellison added to the misery of the home folks with a goal from placement in the third quarter. The game itself was rough. two Wis ttors and one Georgetown player were disqualified for slugging. Both teams showed battle scars when the final whislie blew Georgetown was fairly beaten. and the Hilltop coaches can offer no excuses; in fact, il is doubtful il they would care 10. for Assistant Coach Charley Cox, said last. night: We met one of the cleverest teams Georgetown has played in my recollection. While 1t was true cover, yet I doubt il we could have beaten them had we been able to present our strongest lineup and uncorked all We had In, the matter of offense.” Georgetown was forced to defend its own goal most of the time, and only twice threatened to tear things up, scoring a touchdown in the second period for long runs. and in the final quarter when 4 penalty put the ball within Is yards Of Wesleyan’s goal line, but the Hilltoppers’ chances were tossed to the winds and an opportunity to score thrown away by rough work, followed by a disqualification and the usual PEN atty of half the distance to the goal. Jim Dunn and Tug Fury. veterans. started the game in Georgetown’s back ENoIa 0UN,V showed he was not in condition and was taken out early. Fury PLAYED the entire game with the exception of a few minutes i’m the final quarter and once or twice looked like the Fury Of old. Capt. Costello was sent in when the second half opened, and could not get away for any OF his long runs, so quickly were the opposing forwards and backs on top of him. Georgetown won the toss and received the kick, defending the south goal. OBJ tanning advantage of what little wind was stirring. Jim Dunn caught the ball on the opening kickoff. and ran it back twenty yards The Hilltop backs ploughed through the visitors line for substantial gains, but when the thirty-eight yard line was reached were forced to relinquish the oval on downs. During the remainder of the period the ball was in Wesleyan’s territory, and when the whistle blew the Hintoppers were twenty yards from the goal NethOdists Draw First Blood. Wesleyan braced. Georgetown fumbled. and finally lost the ball on downs. At this stage the open play of the visitors started, one forward pass after another followed in such bewildering fashion that the home team was dazed, and in less time than it takes to tell. Stansbury whistled the oval to Neale near the corner of the field, and a touchdown resuited. Kellison missed goal Right here Georgetown delighted its followers by uncorking an attack that could not be stopped. and playing the only good offensive football of the daS. No sooner had the ball been received from kickoff than Foley. on a line plunge, slipped outside Wesleyan’s right tackle for pretty thirty-yard run. Fury. behind real interference, carried the pig skin around the visitors left end. placing IL on the seven yard line, from whence Murray shot over for a touchdown between. left tackle and guard. The ball was booted out. and an attempt 10 kick goal from the fifteen yard line failed. as the visitors blocked the ball. The second Half. During the entire second half the Methodists outplayed Georgetown. -Four minutes after the third period opened the ball was within twenty yards Of Georgetowns goal, where Kellison dropped back and booted 1t over from placement. Frequent changes were made In the Hilltop eleven, fresh men replacing the battered linesmen and backs, but even with Capt. Costello to lead his team, Georgetown could not gain consistently. and when the third period closed George town was desperately defending its own goal with the ball but ten yards away. Kellison dropped back for another pick from placement out the ball flew wide of its mark. ! This lifesayer gave Georgetown a chance, but after few spasmodic gains,
