KANSAS LOSES IT Game With Bonnie Owens Squad Brings Defeat to X. q. SOOners Quickly Take Advan- tage of Jayhawker BIunders. Lawrence, Kan, Nov. KANSAS lost to Oklahoma Saturday on McCook field 6 to 5. The gridiron vas soft and slip perry and fumbling was frequent. as the players could neither keep their feet nor hold the ball. Bonnie Owens Sooners took advantage of K. us misplays and carried off the second straight victory over Kansas in as many years. Oklahoma kicked two field goals, while Kansas kicked one field goal and scored a safe ty for two mora points. Here is how K. U. lost Oklahoma got off long punt which went over the heads of K US back field men and when the ball was finally recovered a Jayhawker found himself smothered by the fleet Sooners ON his one yard line near the corner of the field. Kansas Immediately kicked, but the ball went out of bounds on K. us 20-yard line. On the first play Okla homa took the ball over in front of the goal posts and kicked a goal. A few minutes later with the ball in Kansas possession and a fourth down, Milton the Jayhawker center passed the ball back to Durham for a kick. The pass was bad one, the ball going over Burnham’s head. 1t was Oklahoma’s ball on the Kansas 25-yard line and the Sooners quickly kicked their second goal With only few minutes left to play Kansas fought desperately and tore through the Oklahoma team for 25 and 80 yard gains. But time was nearly up and when Weidline missed an easy chance for goal the game was over. This was Weddings second attempt at goals from the field, he having easily kicked one early in the second quarter The Kansas team came out of the game in splendid shape and will now prepare to put up fight against Wash burn at Topeka next Saturday. This should be one of the best games of the season. The lineup: Kansas. Positions. Oklahoma. Daniels L. E.... Holland Wefdline ..........L. T. w. Clark, Burton Croft ...........-.L. Co.,. Another big game is staring the Jawhawker mentors in the face and the Kansas team is not playing too good football for 1t, either. Next Saturdays contest against Washburn at Topeka is not being taken lightly here. Despite the fact that the Sons of Ichabod were beaten Saturday the fear of the Blue and White team here has not weak ened. Kansas was outlucked in the Okla homa game but in addition to this the team played ragged in spots. At times the tackling was poor and the backf1eld was worse and then again the men braced and upset the Sooners in their tracks. The trouble seems to be in lack of team work. The Wash burn team probably will face Kansas full strength. Weideman, who did not play against the Sooners, will be in the game again this week. Rambo at fullback will be in again and Martins shoulders will be healed by next Saturday. Coaches Mosse and Frank are planning a strenuous workout this week for the team. The freshmen team will use the Washburn formations a gainst the varsity in practice and an effort will be made to stop the Congregationalists’ plays before they get fairly started
