NIEI SEN SAYS WITH LUCK HIS TEAM WOULD HAVE WON Blue and Gray Coach Makes Statement That Georgetown Had Margin on Army Eleven Techvs. Central Tomorrow. by those who have the athletic welfare of the university at heart and 1t will GER tainly receive their commendatiOn In the way of a great deal of help later. The men who showed the measure through this year and obtained permits sion to have the school represented on the gridiron deserve a great deal “t credit personally for their work and what they have accomplished toward starting things along the right road. That Nielsen has done some great work with the Georgetown team since the car isle Indians game Is certain. Had the Georgetown coach not put In some mighty aborigines, his team would not have made the showing against the Army that 1t did Saturday. That was virtual victory for Georgetown. II Georgetown goes through the remainder of it’s season without defeat, which 1t can do il it maintains the high standard Of play set in the game against the Army. 1t will have played one OF the most successful seasons ever known to south Atlantic team. There is one thing which must not be allowed to interfere with the successful termination OF the season, though. and that is overconfidence. That factor has proved the down. fall Of more athletic teams than anything else known. and II 1t were to enter into the Blue and Gray camp might possibly wreak havoc with the chances against Virginia. Tomorrow the championship OF the 10 cal high schools will be decided. Tech and Central will meet on Georgetown Field to determine which shall have the honor of being rated as the best scho’ as tic eleven in the District this season. The two teams have been coached all season with this one game in view and should each play it’s best foot ball Of the year There is little difference in the weight of the two elevens. none that will make any appreciable difference in their play. Just which team will come out OF the fray tomorrow the winner is hard to ell: in fact. on the form shown in the high school series, it is doubtful If there has been much difference seen in the play. Central will probably have the of line play. while it is probable that Tech will do better work in its backf1eld. Central has three heavy. fast men back of it’s line, but they do not seem to have other, while Technical has Morris and Eckendorf, who have no superiors in the schools, either as defensive or offensive backs. Certain 1t is that Morris is a better man than Ia either Of the Central men, with the possible exception of one, while as a defensive man none Of the Central men has shown the ability in backing up the line that has Eckendorf. Central Is liable to find stronger detense among the Tech forwards than 1t contemplates There Is no douot that 1t will have to be the superiority Of Central linemen which decides the game In its favor. providing 1t wins. Its ends are probably a little better than the Tech men on the defensive, and that may count for quite a little. as off-tackle plays are liable to feature the offense OF the Blue and White aggregation Morris punt ing will be big factor. One other thing which may have a great deal to do Is the way that the Central men handle punts. Although II was not noticed in the West ern game so much. because Tecn won. there were several times that Tech fun lied runts. and Western ends recovered the ball. gaining much ground in this way.
