LEHIGH DEALS PRINCETON A SEVERE BLOW Tigers Dazed Today by Battle Pennsylvanians Give Them. Score So. i. 81, + ~. -. >. . ,,..s FOOTBALL RESULTS Princeton is terribly dazed today from the blow struck by little Lehigh University yesterday in a 6 to 6 battle of hard football. South Bethlehem, the Lehigh home, is wild with joy. Not SINCE Irmschler, the “ne’er-to-bg forgot” Lafayette substitute, blocked e. drop kick by Cunningham and beat the Tigers with an eighty-yard run for a touchdown in the last second of play, has a Princeton team been so stunned Right Guard Knox almost duplicated Irmschler’s feat and ran sixty yards for “A touchdown yesterday afternoon. The only difference between Irmschler’s run and Knox’s was the fact that the former came late in the game. while the ~latter’s occurred almost at the very start. The Tigers had the ball on Lehigh’s fo~rty-yard line when Pendleton called for a forward pass. The ball had scarcely left Bluethenthal $ hands Wien Vela, with Knox at his heels, came crashing through at Benfield, who was taking his time about getting the ball away. With Vela on top of him Penneld attempted to make the pass. lie Dali SlIuCh Vie iitlAlAS VI A%NiAiHA o ! speedy left end and caromed off into the waiting arms of Knox. who, with an open field before him, raced away before the aston shed Tigers realized what had happened. Sawyer took chase, but he wes fully fifteen yards behind Knox at the start n the lat ter beat his pursuer in the dash for the goal line. Pazetti kicked the goal. Lehigh’s Defense Strong. During most of the first two periods 4 the Tigers forced the fighting, but Lee high was game and with the possibility Of a victory over Princeton ahead OF them, repulsed the Princeton eleven every time they became dangerous. The third period opened with Lehigf making their strongest showing of the game. Crichton plunged through the Princeton line for big gains, and Lee high made their only two first downs of the game. Here Princeton coaches began throwing in substitutes; and toward the end of the period Ham nond replaced Sawyer and FAIR took Pendleton’s place at quarter. Baker lad already supplanted Dewitt. On the very first play after Farr went in Baker tore his way through right tackle, shook off the secondary de- Tense and ran forty yards for Il touch down. He followed this by kicking the goal. Farr seemed to put renewed energy into the Tigers, and with Baker play ing in wonderful fashion another touch down seemed imminent when time was called. Most Of the regulars returned to the game at the beginning of th’ last period, and the Tigers seemed tt / slip back one more into a lethargi’ condition.
