AUBURN DEFEATS GEORGIA EASILY Final Score Of Conflict Was 23 loo Wt 0D}UFF BRIGHT STAR First Half, Red and Black Resisted Some, But Weight and Ability Told In the Second-Game In Detail-The Line-Up. Wt OD3UFF BRIGHT STAR Montgomery, November 26.-(Special.) Derrick, Georgias big right guard, saved the Georgia eleven from an over whelming defeat this afternoon by op- portune and magnificent bunting. Woodruff, the clever quarter for the Red and Black, by his stiff defense throughout the TO minutes of play es- tablished his claims to the all-south ern eleven by the best resistance ever seen on the Montgomery gridiron, and at the same time the most ably assisted Derrick in keeping the score down. The first half of the game was stub bornly fought. though Auburn at every stage had a decided advantage. Georgia was especially poor on of fensive work, barely aggregating DO yards, if that many On defensive work, however. the eleven was the star, the heavy on-rush of the Au- burnites being met by the lighter and less experienced fellows with bull dog determination. When the two elevens went in the field the bleaehers, gfandstand and side lines were solid masses of colors. The red and black of Georgia mingled in friendly rivalry with the orange and blue of Auburn, while the rah rahs of the one side were cheapened by the answering huzzahs from the other Very few squabbles marked the game as distinctive. Both elevens played on the friendliest basis, and with wild en- thusiasm the rooters of the respective teams cheered until throats were dry. After seven minutes of play in the first half, Reynolds, with a spectacular outburst of speed. carried the pigskin so yards for touchdown amid the widest enthusiasm. Goal was easily kicked and the first score of the game was made with comparative ease. This made, however the Georgians brace up for the rest of the half, and they stubbornly resisted every march of their opponents. After holding the Auburnites for three downs, the Red and Black wearers would invariably get the ball to fail to gain on two downs, and pass the oval to Derrick for extrication from the difficulty. The latter never failed to pull the Geor- gians together. his punts being the decided features of the game. The second half started out with more vim than ever before. Bostwick, who had been playing under difficulty, was replaced by Weir at full, who played a stiff uphill game. The strain of the first half, however, began to tell early and with the infusion of new blood in the Auburn lineup, the Georgians com pletely gave way excepting Woodruff This one resisted until the whistle sounded every step of the Auburn eleven, and won continued applause from the spec tators. In the middle of the second half, Pen ton, after a series of brilliant dashes on his part assisted by Hardage, who also starred, pushed the ball over for the second touchdown of the game. Key holds kicked goal. After this the Auburn boys had everything their own way. By the last of the half an entirely new eleven was playing the debilitated Gecrgians, and carrying the ball at will. The third touchdown, after few long dashes by Harris who was substituted for Locke was made by Hardage in 15-yard run, and the last touchdown was made by Swartz, who was substituted for Harris D Coll
