WISCONSIN TIES MINNESOTA GoPHERs ARE TREATED TO BIG SURPRISE ~ BADGERS SCORE II TO IL. Madison, Wis.,, Nov. 26.-MlnneSota was treated to one of the biggest sur prises In the history of football when Wisconsin held them to IL to IL tie Saturday afternoon at Camp Randall Minnesota rooters and players were not the only ones surprised, for the Wisconsin team as we’ll as the Bad ger students were expecting defeat. On all-around work Wisconsin clear ly outplayed the Gophers. The Bad. gers scored three touchdowns, and Messmer converted two of them into goals. Minnesota scored only one touchdown, but Capron kicked three goals from the field, one of them a beauty from the forty-five yard line Dunn failed to kick goal after Mime. sofa had scored her touchdown. Wisconsin deserves the greatest credit for its showing against the Go piers, who yere generally picked to win by a large score. Never has q Wisconsin team showed better spirit than the Badgers exhibited. 1t was really the Wisconsin spirit that car. ried them through to what the stu. dents here regard virtually as vic. tory, considering what was expected of the Minnesota team. Neither team played good football. Compared with the game put up against the Indians one week ago, the Gophers played like lot of second raters. Wisconsin also played poor football, but Minnesota played the poorer. 1t was the same old story of the for. ward pass beating Minnesota. It was Schucknecht’s marvellous individual work that was responsible for most of Mtnnesota’s gains. It was “Schuck’s” last game and he surely played the best game of his career. Never has Minnesota player done better work, Carlisle IS, Chicago 4. Chicago, Nov. 26.-The Carlisle In. dian school football team defeated the University of Chicago eleven here Saturday in fast, desperately. fought game. The score was 10 to 4. Three field goals from placement and q touchdown and goal accounted for the Indians points.
