Van Hook, Indiana’s defense was riddled and its offense crumbled on Jordan Field Fri day afternoon. Twice in the first half when the crimson goal line was in dan ger Sinnock hurled the ball over the struggling mass OF athletes and there was an Illinois player there to grab it and carry 1t over. Both goals were missed, but they were not needed, for Indiana’s only score came in the sec. ond half when Cartwright intercepted forward pass from the crimson TWEEN ty-five yard line and raced eighty-five yards for touchdown with the whole Illinois team on his heels. A goal was kicked. but neither team could score again and the final count was 10 to 6. There is little rejoicing here, al though the Indiana supporters feel that their team made creditable SOW ing. With Hoover, their biggest guard, out OF the game, and mere novice pitted against Van Hook a weak spot was unavoidable. This and the failure to solve the forward pass in the first half determined the result, al though Illinois showed it’s superiority in many ways and the play was in In dtanas territory three fOurthS of the time
