  PENNSYLVANIA BEATEN. Failed to Score on the Swarthmore Team. PHILADELPHIA, October 13.-The Uni versity of Pennsylvania foot ball team was defeated by Swarthmore today by the score of to o. The Pennsylvania eleven lost the game because of persistent holding and fumbling in the first half and the further fact that it possessed no drop kicker. In the first half Pennsylvania worked the ball inside Swarthmore’s 5-yard line three times. but because of penalties could not carry it over Swarthmore’s score came in the second half. Capt. Greene of Pennsylvania fumbled Swarthmore’s quarterback kick on Pennsylvania 15-yard line. Swarthmore was at once penalzed Is yards for holding. but Quarterback O’Brien dropped back to the 3O-yard line and sent the ball whirling between the uprigths During the game Swarthmore was penalized 80 yards for holding and off-side, Is yards more than she made in the entire game.
