Washburn people are sore because the management Of the Kansas-Missouri game have billed Topeka for the. Thanksgiving game at Kansas City. They say that they viii retaliate by billing Kansas city for the Washburn- Colorado game. and getting a special rate on the railroads from Kansas City to Topeka on Thanksgiving day. @It isn’t very courteous thing for the managers of this Kansas-A Missouri game TO DO” said Manager Stahl Of Washburn. “In previous years, we have kept out Of each others towns. OF course If we didn’t have any game in Topeka it would be different. But the fact is that We have got a game billed mere which viii make the Kan gas-Missouri game look like 80 cents. The manager of the Colorado college football team met Manager Stahl of hFashburn at Denver, and said to him: You chaps might as well make up your minds that you won’t score against us. You haven’t any show to win; that’s the straight goods” Perhaps the Colorado college mans s judgment was somewhat warped. At any rate, Coach Cropp, of the Denver Athletic association, who is the football authority Of Colorado, and who backs his judgment with his money, has preoicted that Washburn will beat Colo rado college of a score Of 6 to 0. Betting in Denver on the game viii be even money. Manager stahl of Washburn says: .’I expect both teams to score. I think Washburn win win” The coach Of the Colorado college team is Richards. an old Wisconsin man. He is said to be the best in the state of Colorado. His team this year beat Denver university 10 to 0, Colorado Agricultural 80 to O, Denver Athletics Z to 0, and played an to game with the state school of mines. There have been q. number of changes made in the Washburn line which will play In the Thanksgiving day game. Smiley seems to have crowded Haughey out Of the place at right end. He made a better showing than the Wellington man on the colorado trip, and IS likely to play Thursday. Brown viii probably play center in place Of Platt, and Platt viii play one of the tackles. He played tackle in the Denver university game, and made a great showing. Sharp will Play one guard, and Lockford or Mum ford the other. Hill viii be at his old place at left tackle. One of the most unexpected changes win be the placing of Caldwell at left end, and White at left half. This was the combination worked in the Denver university game, and IL was very effective. Williams viii be at fullback. All OF the Washburn men returned from Colorado in good shape. Hill and Williams are little sore, but viii be in the game Thursday. Financially, the indica tions are that the Washburn team viii pay out thii year. The team made about 5000 out ot the Colorado trip, in spite of the heavy expense involved. 1t win have to pay Colorado college a $500 guaranty tC come here Thanksgiving but with the ordinary Thanksgiving crowd, ought t. come out from $500 to 81, 900 ahead or the game. This viii be enough to finish paying the salary of the coach, and al other expenses.
