CADETS WERE OUTCLASSED University of Vermont Won Easily. Is to 0 IN GAME OF BUT ONE HALF Second Half Called OF Because of Bad Condition Of the Ground, the Man agement Wishing to Prevent Injuries. IN GAME OF BUT ONE HALF Mortified, Nov. 16.--The Norwich foot ball team was no match for the uni versity of Vermont yesterday afternoon, and in q game Of but one half was defcated by the score of 16 to 0. The Sc eond half was not played because of a well-developed blizzard which swept across the parade and because both man agements wished to protect their play ers from severe injuries on the frozen ground. As it was, three men had to leave the game. The Vermont full back got rap on the head which dazed him and left him in dopey condition. He was led from the field, protesting, but he was in such condition that he couldn’t understand the signals. After the game he came around all right. The Norwich center and left end also left the game ON account of slight injuries. The home team had chances to rush the bali twice, but each time was forced to punt, after short advances, the visit ors’ putting up Q strong defensive as well as offensive game. Vermont was not once held for downs during the half. Her interference moving quickly got the jump on Norwich and aided by the frozen ground swept the cadets line back easily. And while the slippery surface helped along their mass plays, it retarded the round the end plays, SO that with the exception of a run of 80 yards by Watkins the gains We’re small. Gerrish tried quarter back runs without success. Norwich kicked off and Woodman took the ball, advancing to the rs yard line. From that point Vermont walked straight down the field for q touchdown. Watkins failed to kick the goal Norwich received the next kickoff, and was obliged to punt. On the very first play Wat kins got away around left end aud aid ed by good interference went so yards for a score, several would-be tacklers being thrown off by interferers. Wat kins kicked the boal, making the score al to 0. Norwich elected to receive the kick off but its interference couldn’t penearate the Vermont defence. so that the ball had to be surrendered on a punt. The visitors then started after another touchdown, which they secured by gains ranging from two to ten yards, the ball crossing the line at the center. The punt out was fumbled, and the chance for goal was lost. Norwich kicked off, and the ball sailed over the goal line. YER mont punted from the 25 yard line and lime was called just as Norwich caught.
