HARVARD WORRIED OVER YALE GAME 0’Brien Weak at End and Comparative Scores Against West Point Are Discouraging. CAMBRIDGE. Mass. Oct 30.-Harwards good showing against Brown Saturday has not created feeling OF over confidence in the Crimson camp. The coaches. it is true. were extreme ly pleased with the work of their men In some departments OF the game, but N others ways they were disappointed The work OF O’Brien at left end was particularly disappointing All season Harvard has considered him her most likely enc candidate, yet his work against Brown was deficient in almost every necessary requisite. Twice he al lowed Schwartz to circle his extremity Tor twenty-five yards, and at Other times he was drawn in badly and was saved only by the splendid work OF his halfback. In running down the field under punts he was slow and even al lowed hnowlton, tackle. and Carr, full back, to beat him out. Another reason why Harvard is not overcontident lies in the fact that Saturday she won largely through her su. perior weight. While her plays were started quickly and were we’ll concerted IL was easily seen that in the end (: was the weight and bra wn which told Yale.S score Of 20 to 0 against West Point caused shiver in the Cambridge stamping ground Against the same team week earlier in its development when il can rightly be supposed TO have been correspondingiy weaker, Harvard scored only one touchdown-andl that e.. fuke- As regards the Pennsylya- MIA eleven the feeling is not one OF confidence. Captain Russ OF Brown is OF the opinion that Harvard is strong er than Penn; that her line is better. her ends TO weaker and her backs perhaps = trife faster He also praises Harvards versatile attack. Russ, how ever. has not reckoned upon the grim n. ways meets Harvard. and IL appears that the superficial appearance or the final result of the Brown-Pennsylvania game has weakened his judgment of the actual playing Of the Quaker team AT any rate Harvard knows she Is up against the real thing.

VS. PoINr sMoTHEREp. Yale Defeated the Army Team in jig Time 20 to 0. 4AAAAG 80 u W West Point, N. Y, Oct. 2S.-Yale defeated West Point here today in one of the fastest games seen on the Sol diers’ gridiron in years. It was sweet revenge that the Yale team took for their defeat at the hands of the cadets last year. The score when the game ended was 20 to in favor OF the blue, the biggest score she has made at West Point in years West Point was against a harder team in the men from New Haven than last Saturday when they made such an excellent showing against Harvard. The Yale team Is built on entirely different lines from the crimson. They have an attack that smothered the soldiers and allowed the blue backs to make long gains thfough the army line and around their ends After the second kickoff, the army, taking the ball on their own so yard line, started through the Yale line and around the ends never stopping until they had steadily carried the ball down to Yale’s two yard line, only to lose it the next moment on downs. That was the nearest West Point ever got to scoring. Yale scored one touch down in the first half and two more in the second. both through hard foot ball through the line and around the ends, Veeder carrying the ball most Of the time and scoring both touchd0wns. He also kicked two goals. Shevlin threw Beavers behind the line for a safety in the second half, which made the total score 20 points Lineup: Army. Position. Xals. YALE WINS FROM WEST POINT Army Cadets Are Unable to Gross Goal Of Sons Of Old Eli. MASS PLAYS USED ALMOST ENTIRELY Heavy Eleven Breaks Through the Soldiers Line and Sensational Runs Are Continually Made. WEST POINT N. Y, Oct &.-Yale’s foot ball team defeated West Point today by the score of 20 TO 0. making three touchdowns ana one safety. Yale’s large score was made during sudden spurts, in which the heavy eleven threw West Points defense aside with apparent ease and crossed the gridiron for touchdowns in a few mass plays. Aside from these few minutes play the game looked quite promising for West Point. Toward the close OF the game Yale S attack strengthened and sensational runs were continually made The game was practically ended before the time limit by hundreds of enthusiastic spectators run ming out upon the field after Yale’s last touchdown had been made on a forty-1veyard run by Quarterback Jones. Both elevens used mass plays almost entirely. Frequently a group of four or 1--WE Yale players broke through West Point s defense and started an exciting obstacle race toward the Army’s goal for gains of nve and twenty yards At such times the soldier tackles were dragged along the ground by the Yale mass and stopped its progress only by throwing themselves on the ground to be trampled on. The Army menaced Yales goal during the latter part of the half, once attempting a drop kick from Yales forty-fve-yard line and later place kick from a free catch in midfeld. The half ended with the score to 0 in Yale’s favor. The West Point team showed the effects of Yale’s pounding when the second half began. Near the end of play West Point secured the bail and instead of attempting to buck Yale’s line, Gillespie ordered a punt. Quarterback Jones of Yale caught this kick near the midfeld and sprinted back. He made the touchdown, making the score 20 too
