NEBRASKA THE WINNER. Scored a Decisive Victory Over the Grand Island Eleven. Lincoln, Neb., Sept 25.-Nebraska I’M iversity inaugurated the football season here by scoring decisive victory over Grand Island college. Five touchdowns and as many goals were reeled off by the Cornhuskers, while Nebraska’s goal was meyer once endangered. All of Nebraska’s so points were scored in the first half, the substitutes who were sent in for the final round fumbling away their chances to score The infection of several pelanties also cost the Cornhuskers- heavily in the final half. Coach Booth was sick in bed with cFills and fever and unable to witness the game, but the showing of his pupils in the opening half was highly satisfaetory to the Nebraska rooters. Using their tackles, backs or ends to lug the ball, Booths men charged down the field virtually as they willed, Grand Is land not once being able to hold their heavier opponents for downs. Denslow and Weller each broke loose for runs of as yards for touchdowns, and several long sprints were pulled off by Wilson. johnson Taylor, the husky colored guard, also plunged through the Grand island line for consistent gains, giving assurance that the Cornhuskers. in their future games, should not lack a variety of attack.
