Brown Had Very Easy Time Winning From Tufts Yesterday. 0|sen’s Team Beat Pryor’s in Bowling on Central Alleys. Tufts received a crushing defeat at the hands OF Brown yesterday afternoon on Andrews Field. making Al points. while not allowing the visitors to even have . look in at the goals. There was not moment Of the play but that every man In the game was playing the game of his life and the offence work of the team was such that Tufts could do nothing 70 prevent the touchdowns. After the measure OF the visitors had been taken In the first few minutes of the game there was a continual procssion OF substitutes into the game till there were % men who had had a taste OF the fight. The only man who played the full game was Golfer and they even wanted to give him a rest. Iron joe” however refused TO retire and played the game through. IL was really shame to play the way the fellows did and 10 have won by the score that the team did IL will make some OF the future opponents shiver I’m their shoes to think what they will have To meet when they oppose Brown. For Brown. Chase, Walsh. Welkert, Savage and Russ did the better work. Chase proved himself very steady and holes with good judgment and was very speedy on his feet In the second half he made a clever run OF 35 yards around Tufts right end for touchdown. Walsh also got into the game In fine style. Both In end runs and on straight line bucks he showed headwork Weikert, who played at halfback during the last part Of the game. gave n good exhibition of hard. aggressive playing. On one occasion he got around Tufts left end for 20 yards. He also showed up 10 advantage on the defence. Savage, at full, hit the line hard and low. seldom failing TO make his dis tance. Russ at right end checked every thing that came his way. During the first half Cobb was used continually for substantial advances. On the defence Browns line held like a stone wall as Tufts was not able TO make her distance more than four times. The Tufts eleven was greatly inferior 10 Brown I’m weight and also In playing ability. In both offence and defence they were miserably weak. The linemen were charged back repeatedly, while big holes were opened In the line. The Tufts backs lacked team work. Several times a back would get through the Brown line only TO he thrown back because no man was there 10 help him. Some OF the Tufts players were not. I’m best of condition, as time had TO be taken out frequently for injured men. Captain Knowlton at left end played the best game for his team. He was obliged TO leave the game because of an injured knee. Peterson and Jones In the back field were the only men who could davance the ball to any extent Inv the second half Tufts got the ball TO Browns i0-yard line. where an unsuccessful place kick was attempted This was the nearest to Browns goal line that Tufts reached. During the whole 45 min utes of play Brown played fast, aggressive football. scoring two of the four touchdowns of the first half In five min utes OF play. The second half was limited to % min utes OF play and three touchdowns were made.
