FOOTBALL RESULTS Harvard Beaten By Pennsylyania II to 0. YALEWINSFROMCOLUM BY Score Of “a to o-w Wesleyan Easy Dartmouth and u v. M. Sue. cumbs Before Browns Eleven YALEWINSFROMC COL MBIA Boston, oct. 30. Pennsylvania de- feated Harvard by score Of II 10 o in the Stadium yesterday in the pres encc 81 some 5000 spectators, thereby rudely SCATTERING the crimson’s aspiratons for football supremacy II was the greatest surprise Of the season and the game was won and lost in the first half, during which Harvard showed that She was utterly helpless TO advance the ball by scfimmage attack, while Penn sylyania had an offence that was sim ply irresistible. Pennsylvania turned out finished product, while Harvard, still in a crude state, was unable to make any kind OF an impression against her opponent until the second half, but on the two occasions that Harvard was dangerous Pennsylvania successfully blocked the way to touchdown Harvard had big advantage in win ming the toss, and having a strong wind at her back it looked as ii an she had to do was to keep punting the bali un. iii she CAME within striking distance al her opponents goal This favorable op portunity never came, however, as Rev nolds was able to outpunt Sperry with the wind against him. and in running in punts PENNSYLVANIA completely ont classed Harvard While the crimson was fairly and squarely beateni it would have been more to Pennsylvania cred ii If her victory was not married by the unsportsmanlike conduct OF her players in kicking and kneeing Harvard men after they had been downed. There is only one word to express Pennsylvania $ foul play and that she was guilty OF playing dirty football, and the CHIEF offenders were Stevenson and Piekarski. il was Il rongh game from start to fin ish, and, while some of the Harvard men used their hands in open smuggling, they did not resort to the mean practices Of their opponents. As far as physical condition was con cerned Pennsy wanna was better prepared Tor hard, bruising game than Harvard, and during the first half the Quakers rot the jump on the crimson nearly every time There was no life or snap to Harvard in the first half, be cause Pennsylvania charged 50 quickly that the Harvard attack was stopped before it could gather headway, and if IN opening was made in the Quaker line it was promptly closed up by the see ondary defence, in which Smith was an tire 81 the pace before the first half was oyer, and three oi her players retired in favor OF substitutes, and in the entire game Harvard used is players. Penn sylvania made no changes in the first half, bnt in the second half she put IN four substitnts, using Is men All told.
